We stayed 5 wonderful nights at Logan's Landing. The campground is very clean as are the showers, bathrooms and laundry. There are some permanent residents. Logan's Landing sits on Logan Martin Lake and their own private lake. It has a lovely clubhouse, large swimming pool and swimming beach on Logan Martin Lake. Fishing is allowed without a license on the private lake. There is also a non-motorized boat, canoe, kayak, paddle-boat rental available. My only complaint is that some of the sites are not very level. The staff was very accommodating when we asked for another more level site. The sites have cement patios with picnic tables and grills. The sites are shady and the park is very peaceful and quiet. There are marvelous walking trails. The staff was friendly, and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again and plan to in the future.
We stayed one night at Pavilion on the way to Alabama. The rate listed reflects Passport America discount. The RV park is about a block or two from I-20. Pavilion staff were very helpful and efficient. I had previously made reservations. The bath and shower facilities were some of the cleanest I have ever seen as were the laundry facilities. The sites have no shade and are gravel with a small cement pad with a small table. We stayed in a pull-through site. We did not unhitch and it was adequate for our 39' 5th wheel and dually truck. The sites are close together. The park is well kept and the swimming pool looked clean. There is also a small playground. I rated it 9 due to the lack of shade and close spaces. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay overnight.
We stayed overnight at Ameristar on our way home to Texas. I had made reservations. The RV park is about 2 blocks from the Ameristar Hotel and across the street from the Casino. It has very easy access from I-20. The rate reflects a 10% discount. The bath/showers were small but very clean as was the laundry facility. All were located in the Reception/Check-In building. All sites are paved and close together. There is a very small patio. The park was very clean and the staff was efficient. One nice benefit was 2 free tickets to the Casino breakfast buffet which was delicious. There is a shuttle that will take you between the Casino, hotel and RV Park. There was room for us to pull though our 39' 5th wheel and leave the dually attached. I rated it down for no shade and tight spaces. Otherwise it was a great place for an overnight. We would stay there again.
The Isle du Bois unit of Lake Ray Roberts State Park is one of our favorites. Sites are paved with a picnic table and many have extra room for a tent. We have a 38'9" fifth wheel and did not have any trouble with the campsite. The pull-through sites are 50 amp. Other sites are 30 amp. This time we camped in the Deer Ridge area and have previously camped at the Quail Run area. Both are nice and both have sites that are on the water. There is no sewer but the restroom and shower facilities are very clean. The overall park is clean. It is also very family oriented with playgrounds in each campsite and well as on the beach. It is wheelchair accessible, as the walking paths are paved. A wonderful state park.
Chickasaw National Recreation Area is one of the most beautiful places we have been. It is actually a combination of 3 areas of land. The original National park was called Platt National Park. Then the National Park Service joined 2 more parcels of land with the CCC built Platt Natl. Park and renamed it Chickasaw Natl. Rec. Area in honor of the Chickasaw Indians who deeded the park to the Federal government. There are two RV area, Buckhorn and The Point. We camped in The Point and were very glad we did. We have a 38'+ 5th wheel and did not have trouble getting it into the space. On many sites in this area there is an additional space for you vehicle. There are also very nice camping pads at each site with picnic tables. The showers and restrooms are some of the cleanest I have seen. A few miles on down the road you come to a paradise. This is the original CCC built Platt area. Wonderful hiking trails, and swimming in mineral and fresh water spring creeks. The waterfalls are so pretty. The nature center offers the Junior Ranger program and our grandson participated in it. Overall it is just a beautiful place and we will definitely go back again.
The RV, full hook-up, rate is $21 with a $2 discount for Seniors. We were in a pull through site. There are no water/lake view sites with water/elec/sewer. All the Rv sites were very wooded, paved and shady with grills, fire pits and picnic tables. There are showers available. The park itself is a beautiful old CCC constructed park which has been beautifully maintained. There is a nature center with programs for children. Lake Carlton is a non-motorized lake and looks like something out of On Golden Pond. Canoe, paddleboats and kayak rentals are available on site. There is also a miniature golf course and olympic sized swimming pool. Hiking trails abound and there is also an equestrian camping/riding area. The hike up to Robber's Cave is a must. This is our third year at the park and we love it. There are also cabin rentals. The cabins are well maintained and fully stocked with linens and dishes. There is also a lodge available for room rental. Wilberton has several restaurants, grocery store and gas. We actually attended the Wilberton Rodeo while there and really enjoyed it.
Cedar Mills is more Marina than RV Resort but the sites that are available are always clean. There is a great bathroom/shower facility as well as laundry. All of the facilites are immaculate. The on-site reastaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. There are cabins available to rent as well. The staff are friendly and accomodating.
